Get ready to play
The Autumn sun was shining for our first game of the 2025 season over the weekend. After several months of work behind the scenes, the 2025 Committee were thrilled to see the games commence with 108 children registered to play!
Junior Soccer simply can’t operate without a whole team of volunteers. Be sure to thank our coaches, volunteer committee members and photographer when you’re next at soccer. We’re grateful for the hours of time and dedication our volunteers pour into soccer to ensure Braidwood children can enjoy the sport they love!
Our community benefited from the generosity of Alannah Magee of Intersport Fyshwick who visited with a discounted pop-up stall to ensure all players were kitted up for the season. Alannah also supplied our new soccer jerseys as well as donated 100 discount vouchers for the first 50 children who registered with Junior Soccer. Our Committee has been grateful for all the support Alannah has provided to get us up and going this year.
There were smiles aplenty with a BBQ sizzling and a return of the much loved Oscar’s Donuts “Good Sport Award”. Congratulations to all who received their free donut voucher, particularly our first time players who gave it their all! Thank you to Brodie, Judy and team for your generosity and support! Always smiling, Crystal Hart captured the joy of our players scoring goals and reuniting with their soccer mates on the field. Thank you, Crystal for volunteering your time to immortalise the fun for us! We also thank our parents who rug up and cheer from the sidelines each weekend.
Last year, we heard from community members who wished they knew more about soccer to enable them to coach. Without volunteers, community sport cannot run so our Committee listened and with the support of Braidwood Community Bank, we invested in our volunteer coaches. As the children played, groups of parents participated in Coever Coaching Clinic - Drills, Drills, Drills. Coever Coach, Ben Monteleone, ran two informative and engaging sessions.
Our coaches walked away with the confidence to improve their practice and offer new skills to our players. Thank you to Ben, Willy, James, Dale, Paul, Kate, Dave, Andy, Katie and Jordan for taking part in the Clinic.
“I recently attended a Coerver coaching clinic in Braidwood. I was expecting a mostly sit-down, theory-based course - but it turned out to be the complete opposite in the best possible way. The sessions were hands-on, energetic, and fun, with activities tailored to suit each coach’s own fitness level and learning pace.
Although I’ve been involved in football for a few decades as a player, the clinic offered fresh insights into how to better connect with junior players. One of the most valuable things I learned was how to structure age-appropriate sessions focusing on a balance between having fun and skill development in a competitively motivated environment.
The experience has made a real difference to my confidence and approach as a coach. I’ve walked away with practical tools, a better understanding of how young players learn, and a reinforced focus on using encouragement and positivity to motivate the young players.
This kind of training will have a lasting impact on our community. By supporting coaches at the grassroots level, Coerver is providing a stronger, more supportive environment for junior soccer - where the sport can grow within our community.
Thank you for such a well-run, inspiring clinic. It reminded me why I love being involved in the world game.”
Coach Dale.
Thanks to Braidwood Community Bank, all registered players will have the opportunity to experience professional coaching through a Skills Clinic run right here in Braidwood on Saturday 10th May, 2025. Ben from Coever will return with colleagues to run a skills clinic at regular game times. The cost of the clinic has been funded by Braidwood Community Bank! Community members aged 3 to 16 years are welcome to attend at an investment of $40 per child. Registration to this Clinic is open via our website. We thank our local Bank for their ongoing support of our Club. For over 20 years, Piggy has been involved in the success of Braidwood Junior Soccer.
We are grateful to be well supported by the Braidwood Community. The businesses who support Junior Soccer, are investing in grassroots sports, right here in Braidwood enabling over 100 children to access sport at home. We have been able to offer free registration for the 3rd child + per family thanks to our Sponsors. We’ve also received in kind support from Capital Chemist in refreshing our First Aid Kits, Armonde at The Laundrette laundered our bibs and Molly from Little Stitches has provided embroidery and will be supplying our 2025 Winter Hoodies - now available for purchase via our website.
A huge thank you to all our Sponsors who make our season possible!
